We have been alerted to an upcoming change to Google Chrome that will require Chrome users to update their browser in order to continue watching video content on Digital Theatre+.
Google is making changes to their Content Decryption Module (CDM) within their Widevine DRM system. This is what is responsible for decrypting DRM (digital rights management) protected content, like that offered on the Digital Theatre+ platform, allowing you to watch it.
Most devices using the Chrome browser should update automatically.
However, browsers using Widevine CDM and which have automatic updates turned off for any reason will need to be manually updated to the latest CDM.
If using older versions of Google Chrome after 6th December 2022, your browser will no longer be able to decrypt media content on our platform and you will not be able to watch it.
The required update was first made available on 25th October 2022. As long as your browser has been updated after this date, you should encounter no issues.
Google provides guidance on updating Google Chrome here. You may additionally wish to consult the Enterprise and Education release notes for Chrome 107.
