How to use Digital Theatre+ resources in Schoology

Digital Theatre+ resources can be easily shared with students for interactive use in the Schoology learning management system. Follow these instructions to save and upload a DT+ resource as an assignment for students to annotate directly.

Step 1: Locate the Resource and Open the Print Dialog

Find the PDF or resource on Digital Theatre+ that you wish to use. Click the Print button to open the print dialog window.1- Print

Please note that a limited number of written resources on DT+ may not be available for Print or Download, due to licensing restrictions with our partners. However, all our purpose-built lesson plans, comprehensive study guides and student workbooks are perfectly suited for use in this way!

Step 2: Save the File as a PDF

In the print dialog, change the printer option to Save as PDF.

  • Adjust the settings to select specific pages if needed.
  • Save the file to a location on your device where you can easily access it later.

Step 3: Set Up the Assignment in Schoology

Log into Schoology and navigate to the Assignments section.

  • Click on 'Materials' on the left side of the screen
  • Select 'Add Materials' and then 'Add Assignment' from the dropdown box
  • Create the assignment by adding a name and description
  • Under 'Format Options', you should select 'Annotations Assignment' 

Step 4: Upload the PDF to the Assignment

  • Select the PDF that you wish your students to annotate - this is the file you saved in Step 2
  • Double-check that the correct file is uploaded, then select 'Open'

Step 5: Finalise and Publish the Assignment

Finish creating your assignment by completing the following details:
  • Due Date
  • Time Due
  • Points
  • Category
  • Grading Period
  • Factor
  • Collection Type

When you are done, select 'Create'


Step 6: Students Complete the Annotation Assignment

Students can now open the assignment in Schoology and use the built-in PDF annotation tools to complete their work. These tools may include:

  • Text Annotation (e.g., adding typed responses)
  • Area Annotation (marking specific areas on the PDF)
  • Highlighting
  • Freestyle Drawing

Following these steps will ensure a smooth process for setting up student annotation assignments in Schoology using Digital Theatre+ resources.
