This article expands upon the consent required to allow use of Digital Theatre+ by people under the age of 18 (or applicable age of majority)
Digital Theatre's primary concern is the protection of children's personal data. As stated in the Privacy Policy, the only personal data we may collect from a child is an email address used during the authentication process. Digital Theatre's lawful basis for the collection and processing of that data is to fulfil its contractual obligations to educational institutions; and consent. It is therefore Digital Theatre's policy to only allow access Digital Theatre+ to those under the age of 18 (or under the applicable age of majority in their state or territory of residence) with the consent of a parent, legal guardian or institution.
Please note, in most jurisdictions an institution is capable of providing the requisite consent on behalf of a parent/guardian. However, this varies depending on the child's state or territory of residence. Digital Theatre is not involved in the collection of this data or onboarding this information to the platform for authentication purposes. Digital Theatre simply acts on the institutions instructions. The onus is therefore always on the institution to obtain any parental/guardian consents that may be required under the applicable law in their state or territory of residence.
For the avoidance of doubt, and with reference to the Privacy Policy, Digital Theatre does not knowingly process personal data from child under the age of 18 (or under the applicable age of majority in their state or territory of residence) without these consents. If Digital Theatre discovers they have collected or processed this personal data without the consents required by law, we will immediately suspend the associated account and/or delete that personal data as soon as possible.
