What is the difference between a Title and a Production?

On the new Digital Theatre+, you will find our Titles directory - a new way for you to explore and surface the best of what's on offer for a given title.

Titles

A Title on Digital Theatre+ groups all content related to a specific work — most commonly a play — including Productions, Video Resources, Written Resources, and Teaching Resources.

For example, Hamlet :

Here you can explore all Digital Theatre+ resources for Hamlet by William Shakespeare. Depending on what is available, these are then divided into Productions, Video Resources, Written Resources and Teaching Resources.

  • Productions: Specific stagings or recordings of the title.
  • Video Resources: Interviews, behind-the-scenes footage, and other video content.
  • Written Resources: Essays, study guides, and textual analysis.
  • Teaching Resources: Lesson plans, activities, and classroom materials.

Productions

A Production is a specific staging or recording of a Title available on Digital Theatre+.

For example, the Royal Shakespeare Company’s Hamlet :

Each Production page includes details such as the cast, creative team, and associated video and teaching resources specific to that staging.
