Is Digital Theatre+ WCAG 2.1 or 2.2 Level AA compliant?

We are reviewing our accessibility status in response to EU and ADA Title II changes and will provide updates as this work progresses.

Digital Theatre+ is committed to digital accessibility and is actively working toward conformance with WCAG 2.1 Level AA, in line with ADA Title II and the European Accessibility Act requirements.

We recognize the importance of making our educational content accessible to all users, including those with disabilities.

Where we are now

In October 2025, we commissioned a professional accessibility audit against WCAG 2.2 Level AA, conducted by Tetralogical, a recognized accessibility consultancy. Based on the audit findings, we have developed a remediation plan and implementation is underway.

As of April 2026, we have resolved a significant number of issues identified in the audit across the web application. These fixes include:

  • Keyboard navigation - hidden menu items and form controls that were incorrectly reachable via keyboard have been fixed, and focus is now properly managed when the mobile navigation menu is open, including support for closing it with the Escape key.

  • Screen reader announcements - search result counts and status updates are now announced to screen reader users when they change dynamically on the page.

  • Interactive control states and roles - a range of controls, including the mobile menu toggle, quick view buttons, and tab navigation components, now correctly communicate their expanded, collapsed, or pressed state to assistive technologies.

  • Heading structure - heading levels across navigation menus, content cards, the training courses page, and the search page have been corrected to follow a logical hierarchy.

  • Icons and images - decorative SVG icons are now properly hidden from assistive technologies, and meaningful icons (such as completion indicators in training modules and onboarding checklists) now have appropriate text alternatives.

  • Form labels - several form controls that lacked persistent visible labels or had accessible names that didn't match their visible text have been updated, including the subtitle search field and filter controls.

  • Form grouping - related groups of checkboxes and buttons (such as filter panels and the study unit rating component) are now properly grouped and labelled for screen reader users.

  • Animations - the pulsating icon used in the header to indicate new content now respects users' reduced motion preferences.

  • Dialogs - the product tour dialog now has an accessible name, helping screen reader users understand its purpose when it opens.

  • Pagination - pagination controls now use appropriate navigation landmarks and descriptive link labels.

We are continuing to work on the remaining audit findings, as well as audio description and captioning for video content (prioritised by usage), PDF remediation to ensure study guides and supporting materials are accessible, and technical infrastructure updates to support accessible content delivery.
